G'day all
The briefing will be held on the 6th of November, comp dates 7th, 8th & 9th of November with the presentation at stumps that night. If you can't down load the information Darwin Game fishing club will be holding their monthly meeting tomorrow night at the Ski Club which kicks off at about 630 pm. There will be flyers/entry forms available at the meeting & any questions you have can be answered. I'm working, so if you go down just ask for Josh Ker, Tom McCullough or any of the other Committee members & they should be able to help you out, we will run more bait rigging sessions in the lead up to the comp for any interested parties, cheers Balls.

G'day Blinky
I posted the general info in the Billfish section, not sure of the names of the individuals who won the Billfish section, they were blokes from Broome & their wifes fished in an all girl team with a local female, so that was good to see. The results were down on what I personally expected but thats Billfishing. Last year we fished Groote & the Billfish were very prolific, this year John Cooper & I both tagged a Black Marlin each but the Billfish were few & far between & pretty hard work, go back next year, definitely. I suppose that sums up competition fishing, as you would know from fishing the Barra Classic, some years are easier then others but we keep going back partly because its not just about the fishing, catching up with mates etc is a big part of it. We had the debrief on the Billfish comp & pending competitor feed back we will go forward with the Billfish comp with any necessary improvements & in years to come I think it will be up there with the Barra Classic as a professionally run NT tournament that people look forward to each year. PS there were a number of 100-150 kg Blacks raised & a few hooked, unfortunately they nailed the 10 kg outfits. A few more 15/24 kg outfits may see some good Blacks tagged, especially if slightly larger baits are set in the spread for them. Give me a yell one day if you're interested in fishing the harbour, be warned I normally fish in the Bismark (the Scanoe), also alcohol free cause I don't like swimming & losing expensive gear when people go turtle, not sure if you will like the alcohol free part, cheers Balls.

What!.........not even a little sip from a McKenna filled Camel Back?
Thanks for the offer Balls……………I’ll keep it mind for when I’m not in a drinking mood. It seems strange just thinking about it!
I read the other post you put up, thanks for the info.

G'day Blinky
What parts strange thinking about it, the not drinking part or the fishing out of a canoe part. If you can drink & maintain your balance in a canoe its no drama, most people shake like shiiiit, not sure if its their lack of balance or there concerned about what they can't see. I put the canoe in middle arm ramp about a month ago & started pinning a few barra off the rock bar right next to the ramp. Anyway a small dingy about 12 foot long pulled up with 4 blokes absolutely hammered (not midgets either), two went to get the car, two proceeded to tell me they had seen a croc bigger then the Scanoe at the ramp (the canoe is about 5 metres long so the croc might have been on holidays from Corroborree), anyway they continued to fill me with doom & gloom about what would happen to me fishing out of the canoe in the harbour (which is a calculated risk on my part) the interesting part from my point of view was both of them were standing in the water at the back of the boat bagging the cr.p out the canoe, at least I was in the canoe & not in the water, then if myself or anyone else was on the road you would have to contend with one of the four muted drivers not running you off the road. Having said all that I'm not likely to be seen floating down the Adelaide, South etc in the Bismark, the Quinnie with have to come out of retirement for those trips, cheers Balls.

Im with you balls I would have no probs in a canoe around the harbour it cant be as dangerous as swimming off cas beach or lee point etc. Not to mention the winners that have a swim at shady and the like.
