Fisheries officers have reminded recreational fishermen of the regulations covering pots for freshwater cherabin and crayfish.
"This follows concerns expressed on an ABC Radio program this week regarding the level of public awareness of the freshwater pot legislative requirements," Fisheries acting executive director Bill Flaherty said.
"The identification of freshwater pots is necessary to enable practical enforcement of the fisheries legislation.
"Freshwater pots are limited to five pots per person ? as is the case for crab pots.
"Pots (both freshwater and crab pots) when in use must have a float attached that is clearly and indelibly marked with the user?s name.
"If you don?t mark your pot you will be issued with a $200 fine for unmarked amateur gear. For excess pots a person can be summoned to face court."
