Well this post should be in the barra section if we caught any
but nonetheless, there is still a report to be had.
The wife and I took the goodship greencan up to goat island and experienced Kai's hospitality at the lodge overnight. We pulled up and lobbed out our Cherabin pots thinking livebait, but little did we know they would endup saving our trip!!
Using both dog food soaked in tuna oil, and velvet soap in alternate pots we ended up getting at least 3-4 kilos worth of cherabin over 4 pulls of the pots
some pots had over 20 cherabin in them, and interestingly enough the soap attracted the big ones, wheras the dog food attracted better numbers ??: ??: ??:
travelled up to the first 's' bend on the friday arvo for only one dropped barra, but only a small fish. otherwise, it was very quiet. having said that, it is a trully beautiful stretch of water, and was a great place to relax with a beer
went back to the lodge for dinner with Kai, Chronic and his lady-friend Kylie before heading out after a couple of beers to check the pots for a few thumpers.
Saturday morning only went as far as manton (no fuel) and only fished for an hour or so before pulling the pin and picking up the pots and some more cherabin.
So in the end, got a stack of cherabin, no fish, but enjoyed the lodge immensely, and am a iron clad guarantee that I will be back to stay in the buildup, but with a bit more fuel as I want to push up that pretty river a bit further next time.
and I can tell you the rooms are very clean and the missus was very impressed as she thought I was taking her to some bush camp. Just quietly a few of the big hotels could take a few lessons on how to present their rooms as well as what Kai has done despite the remoteness he exists in....
Oh, and got home and cooked up the pust batch of prawns and had them on fresh bread rolls with lettuce and mayonaise...magnificent

Ya not wrong hilly the fishing was pretty hard going, to say the least. Taking a swag of cherabin up to the second s bend and there wasnt a fish in sight! Back closer to goat island Kylie got her first barra at 53cm and was rapped.. I got a rat and a shark the next day and we both dropped about ten small fish each, no good size barra in sight But the weekend wasnt a waste as we got a esky full of cherabin for our efforts
Seeing Casey the famous croc have her dinner 2 nights in a row at goat island was pretty cool too, love your work Kai, she's very talented
I guess its time to give up on the barra for a bit.......maybe
