WARNING - DON’T USE AN LPG STOVE AS A HEATER

DANGER - DON’T USE AN LPG STOVE AS A HEATER

I have just heard the news of the tragic death of 3 hunters in Tassie who died overnight when they used the gas stove in their van as a heater

The men were using the gas stove as a heater and fell asleep with the stove still running.
They asphyxiated when the stove burnt all of the O2 in the van
They were found by their mate the next day

This method is commonly used in cold areas. I was told of this method by a campervan group while visiting Tassie some years ago/
The method was slightly different in that a terra cotta pot was inverted over the lit stove and the heat radiated to the inside of the van.

Ive done it myself many times.

When I told one of my mates about this new heating method, he hit the roof.
he told me just how dangerous this could be.

Another of my mates did the same thing in Vic and had a few drinks on a cold night as you do when camping/hunting.
He turned on the gas stove to heat the van. He fell asleepand only work when the smoke alarm was activated.
He could have had the same terrible ending as these 3 blokes.

It can happen in a tent or any enclosed area.
be careful

Certainly does happen and very dangerous. If anyone does do it make sure you have windows down a cm and vents open. You may be colder but it will save your life

Can we just take the warning stickers off everything and let natural selection take its place, I mean if its spinning fast dont put your fingers in it..... Its not hard

Nearly happened to me on the Daly last trip, except it was the emissions from Barratragic and Mclaren that nearly asphixiated me,....
