Sheeby and I hit the wiltshires yesterday for mixed results. The day started off well and with in the first hour of fishing I managed to troll up a healthy 90cm baz . Upon hook up I wasnt convinced it was a barra as it didnt do a whole lot. In fact I had called it for a big Powertail. After a 10 minute battle where the fish stayed deep I finally got a glimps of a tail. It looked very dark and this again convinced me it was a big powertail . Five minutes later and it finally surfaced properly and showed its true colours revealing a nice silver flanked salty despite the tail still being a little dark. I was stoked that the first fish in the boat was of decent size and things looked good .

Things got dramatically slower and Sheeby sympathised with mud on the inability to use an over head reel. This was the result of a big wind up and hooking his lure in the anchor well at the start of a cast. Needless to say he wasnt a happy camper. oh and he has already got half of the over run out when i took this photo:rofl:

The next couple of hours where very slow with bait at a minimum and little or no boofing any where other than a couple of big boofs right in the middle of the first wiltshire at the mouth. Eventually we hit a favourite corner that usually always produces a fish or two. Again it provided and Sheeby landed a 68cm rocket that fought above its weight. He has the photos on his camera of that one. Eventually the tide turned and was 1/4 of the way in when i was just about to pull the pin. I decided to try one more stop before heading home . This paid of and we boated five fish in half an hour including a nice 74cm and an 80cm fish. Both of these fish came out from under the boat and scared the cr.p out of me hitting the lure as I was lifting it out of the water. It is for this reason "Why barra comes to mind". You just never know.

On top of a couple of better fish we pulled 3 between 50 and 55cm in quick succession. Sheeby was disgusted with the fact that he couldnt hook a bigger fish and held this little tacker up for a photo reluctantly.

All being said it was a pretty slow day and I wouldnt say it was going off but at least some good fish came on the chew for periods during the day. Oh and thanks to Sheeby for being a sport and taking the time out from fishing to net my fish when they were on the bite. You know I would net yours when you hook one!

Gee thanks you big cuddly b**** hahaha
I still enjoyed myself and got a bit of practice on the landing net. It seemed that all the fish fought above their weight, especially the 80cm that Cuddles got last. That fish just kept strippin line. It was good to see some big fish in the boat either way.
