Went out for a quick flick this evening down near the ski club.....Miss 7 y/o Alice wanted to come too.

I rigged Alice up with a small bloodworm hook and some prawns and she was happy to catch and release a couple of little spotted butter fish.

I caught a nice tarpon which gave up a good fight on light gear and we pulled the pin at dusk.

When we walked in the door SharkGirl asked Alice how we did. This is what she said....

"I caught two spotty fish!!.......Oh and daddy caught a tampon."

Alice had little prawns and I had a jerk bait...a little grey and white gulp. Ive quite taken to them in the past year or so. I get enough attention from little things to keep me amused and bigger things will take them too if they are there. We were just throwing them from the bank of a little lake near town...where a small tidal creek runs into it. Nice place but too much human cr.p around.....bottles, clothes, parts of motors...its soul sapping....

I know tarpons are inedible....they will be even less edible now. But i didnt realise they had other uses...I think we will prob call them tampons from now on
