Shadycamp 2012 : NT Barra

So I want to try tommycut at the opening next year but with all the talk of the cutting might be impassable and never gone through it before I wanted to ask some questions that I'm sure some one can answer. How tight is it with flood water? Can you take any wrong turns when going along it? Sorry if they are silly questions but thanks for any info

we did it last year was very tight in a 4.45 hornet but not to bad shouldn't get lost just follow the channel aboput half was through there is a small creek going to the lkeft heading towards tommy cut but shouldn't have a problem just take some cutters just in case haha.

Just go around if your worried. The guides should have it cleared by opening time anyway.

I only have a 4.2 with a 40 2stroke and wanting to fish the dead forest more than the mouth

Its not bad, saves time. I dont think id bother taking my new boat through there. was fine in my old 4.7m

you'll have no probs in a 4.2 just stay alert and keep your ear out for other boats that might be coming the other way had a very close call with one of darrens big guide boats just missed the the bow of the boat but the wake almost swamped us.

Hi bud there's no law but it sorts of a good rule to follow head towards tommy cut before 12 noon and after keep the traffic heading back towards sampan. Took my 6.5 m boat through a couple times last year no worrys.

Pity its not the same as it was a few years back, when you could see another boat coming from accross the floodplain

Just go round and avoid the dickhead factor. People go screaming through there with little regard to the possible consequences to other users. poop like this will be the reason we will have boat licencing imposed upon us.
