Some speed is required to keep safe headway it would scare the bjeezus out of you at a fast clip coming round one of the blind corners and coming face to face with old mate. I have been known to do a fast run through late arvo on a low tide to get back to the ramp[ anyone have fast times probably guide boats] to be honest it is great fun but I know it is a dangerous risk for me and others.

yep thats it coastaljoy, there are still some long straight stretches that you can maintain good speed on, depending on the water height, and the overgrowth? just need to make sure you back right off for those blind corners, you can then also hear if someone is coming from the other direction!!

I still think it takes a simliar amount of time to go out and around as it does to go through because you dont have to slow down. Did it last year and saw a boat enter the cutting and we met them at the mouth of tommycut at virtually the same time we were sitting on 55kph down sanpan.

Rather than bringing in licences, some people should be made to have a red light flashing whereever they go

Yeh, but there are people who wouldnt have a clue of the basic rules of the water. pretty hairy when they don't even know which side to pass another boat on.

Went to corroboree and hired a house boat, before I went off in the tinny told the missus- just keep to the right hand side. Got back and the boat was travelling down the left- I questioned this and apparently my mate who was tillon the boat told her to drive on the left- and hes worked on boats for at least 8 years!
