hey all,, just after a bit of advice and few ideas, my plan is to load up friday night and head around the shoal bay and spend the night there chasing a few barra any what ever would like to give us a bit of fun, just a few things i trying to work out before i lock it in, so if any one can help me out i would really appreciate it cheers
low tide is a bout 430 in darwin and of around the 3 metre mark, my biggest concern is will i have time to get access out of buff creek and over to the rock before dark so i can set up, i understand there is a time difference in tides from darwin?? if i do have time my plan is to chuck the boat in around 430 chase livies and then motor around spend the night over there then waiut till 8 or 9 next morning and come home, just not sure how fine i will be cutting it with my time,,
looking forward to hearin some responses cheers ross

fROM MY EXPERIENCE launching at buff on a 3mtr low you have missed the boat. I would be putting in at 3pm or sooner to be safe. Good tides, great spot but be SAFE and give yourself enough water to work with ALTHOUGH i am basing this on my boat a 5.3 quinny with a 115 4stroke so a smaller more versitile tinny 3mtrs may be plenty. Just my thoughts BUT the BIG BARRA must be there somewhere. Good luck.

Remember nothing worse than planning everything only to be STUCK with not enough water. The place takes some time to workout as we have all been stuck in shoal bay. You ared not trying hard enough if you havent been. cHEERS

i would give it at least 2 hours after the change to be safe to leave buff if you dont no it well it's only about a 10min run to the rock then. launched there the other day in a 5m boat and touched at the mouth but as you go round the beakons start to swing round and head out to sea try and stay away from mud flats should see the water breaking on them good luck

I recently went out of Buffalo Creek. The GPS tides said 4.6m and there was only 1m of water getting out so, yeah as said before, anything below 4m could be tough
