If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!
Especially when you can see them!

I do half my fishing at night and it is always on my mind. Even cruising along steady and hitting floating logs is a danger let along a great island.
Not good to hear.

Re: Two dead after hitting rocks
i feel for these blokes. im sure it could have happened to any of us.
i also travel a lot at night on the water so i installed a light bar on the bow. makes a huge difference without having your heart in your mouth hoping you dont hit anything. im not sure how legal it is but its much safer than not having it there. ive spotted several logs and even an unlit tinny

Nah, not 'any of us'...
Would like to know full story, that aint no small rock/island.
Obvious lack of experience.
RIP anyways.

No one will know the full story Hemi, but knowing the skipper he did not lack experience mate.
Fatigue is a factor in this accident and if there was no moon light it is very easy to be put off course, this particular island rises from 20m to nothing in about 10m, there would have been no warning, the lighthouse on Malus island would still be to your left as well.
Was the GPS on? Who knows, just be careful how you comment as many people know the skipper in the free diving world, he was the boyfriend of my au pair who had to break the news to his sister from the other side of the world, never a nice thing to do.
