I laughed when IOM tried to charge me an extra $60 over what they had quoted to do the repair. The excuse was that they hadn't allowed enough time to do the job
I told them 'that's why I took it in for them to quote on'
reluctantly they went with the quote
I asked them why I would get a quote in the 1st place??
I know, I know, its Darwin and that's what they do here

What is wrong with people around here why is it no one can be bothered to help someone in need, its total bs.
When I had a boat I must have towed a dozen people back to ramps or lent them fuel or some sort of mechanical advice. Everyone of them was extremely grateful and most said the same that boats just flew past and ignored them.
Hopefully more will take up the coastguard option and make it a bigger network before it becomes a tragedy. Just my 2c worth

Thanks for posting this.....it made me book my boat in to get the hydraulic steering seen to....I have leaking seals and the steering has become very stiff....losing fluid etc....................it is now booked in for tomorrow!
