Treble size on small lures.

Post by Jack-77 »

G'day fellas. First post here, great site!
Just a quickie, what size trebles does everyone go down to on smaller hard bodies around 100-120mm? :drinking5:

I use Owner ST66 4x size 2 on those sized h/bodies. 120mm upwards I use 1/0

Under 100 I use no 4 or no 6 VMC 6x strong.

What I also change are the split rings to Decoy or for extra strength the Halco double ringers.

For timber lures Size 2 down to about 75 mm, under that go to a 4. For plastic you can go up a size as long as they don't tangle.

Thanks fellas, always thought the bigger 1/0 etc take a bit of action away from the smaller minnows, but also worry about about a good hook up with smaller trebles.
