So boredom has gotten the better of me... Thought id do a product review....?
Ive just gotten my tinnie to a level im pretty happy with, pretty well kitted out.
However, i'd been stewing on whether i need a bilge pump?
Deciding I dont want to wire in anything else into my tinnie and the fact an electric pump seems over-kill as I dont usually get much water in the boat, ive looked at manual pumps.
Ive been using a 'SEA TO SUMMIT' hand pump on a few trips now. Designed for the sea kayak market it seems pretty good so far. Plastic construction, ally shaft, internal screws all stainless, outer covering foam, its a light easy to use bit of kit. Each pump of the handle moves nearly half a litre of water. Doesnt take long at all to clear the bottom of the boat. Easily stores out of the way up front too.
Ive also found it handy for pumping out my esky too.
I wouldnt reccomend it for pumping mega-tons of water but if you have a small tinnie and as I get from crabbing, fishing and getting caught in the rain a few litres in the bottom of the boat, its worth it..!
Available from The NT General Store (may have to order in??)
Only $24... Cheap as.
