What'd you end up getting Seano? If you did end up getting one?

2. Of my mates bought BT 50,s, both very happy.
I have an 08 hilux and have driven the BT,s. As far as finish goes, the BT,s are awsome. The 5 cyl engine is great, although to drive, I struggle to feel a huge difference between my car and theirs. Intercooler is a little vulunarable in the Mazda/ford.
If i were traveling around OZ, towing a van or big boat, guess the BT or Ranger would have advantage in power, comfort. Hilux would have advantage in spares and mechanics experience and trouble shooting.

I like the look of the Ranger over the BT50.

I bought the wife a BT-50. She loves it. Great fuel economy and the finish is damn good. We brought here in Darwin after haggling prices around the place on a number of different makes. A certain VW dealer honestly couldn't sell ice to eskimo's. The Mazda crew bent over backwards to make a great deal.

Zoom zoom.

Can recommend the Ranger 100%. Had one for 30,000ks and love it. Gets great fuel economy, 7-9L/100 around town depending how you drive, and the ride, engine and manual gearbox all improve after a few thousand ks. Around town you can just ride the torque and never go above 1700RPM, but that's no fun :D Build quality is fine, no squeaks or rattles.

Great off road and on gravel roads.. Traction control is great on corrugations and even with it off it doesn't want to put the tail out.
Only niggles are that the stock tyres are pretty average, and it's one of the more expensive utes. But for what you get, I reckon it's worth it.

Bt50 is the same running gear, but I think it comes with a slightly different engine and suspension tune.

The amarok looks great, I drove one and the ride and handling were both good, but IMO it feels underpowered for such a big ute, but maybe that's because all I had to compare it to was the Ranger and STX550.

No problems yet!
In fact, ive had a pretty good run out of all the cars ive owned, last one was a B2600 mazda Bravo, only problem i had was keeping petrol up to the old girl!
reckon it must be a maintenance thing, cause any problems ive had with cars in the past have been my fault....im 45 and owned a few cars over the years, im not a car lover, in fact I dont even like them, just need them to tow my boat, and get me to work etc. Hilux = good. Patrol = good .Bravo =good ,dihatsu = good (rocky on corrugated roads but, and turning circle of a road train, mechaniclly no problems ever,)

Just doing a bit of fishing..

I have to agree, there is not much between them all, I have been to campsites where Landcruiser owners cr.p on about how lucky they were to be in a cruiser, would not have got there otherwise, then in rolls a Hyundai excel. Ya pay a lot for a badge and little else.
